INTRODUCTION

Each Volume of these Quartets is published in four books with transposed parts for common wind instruments. Each group is written in the major key for the specified instrument unless otherwise noted. (For example: Trumpet in Bb, Flute in C, Horn in F, Alto Saxophone in Eb, etc...) Each book may be used with similar or mixed instrument groups as long as the part name, book and volume # match. Mixed instrument groupings should be as closely configured to SATB style as possible. [Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass: Higher instruments on the top voices, lower towards the bottom, like a choir.]

The arrangements are written within the standard range for each instrument based on difficulty level (book #). The length of arrangement is also based on difficulty. For the most fun work your way up to Book 4 where original notation, articulation, phrase markings and key signatures are closely referenced!

A note for younger players: Take your time! Work slowly & precisely in steps. Along the way, focus on consistent air/breath control, accurate intonation, strict rhythm, clean attacks, dynamic contrast/balance, full phrasing, and all expression markings. Familiarize yourself with the composer's names, writing styles & harmonies. Lastly, have fun!
